SUMMARY CARE RECORD
The NHS is creating a Summary Care Record for all patients. For more information click here www.nhscarerecords.nhs.uk or read this leaflet. The NHS recommends patients have a summary care record, but under the NHS Constitution patients are entitled to opt out. Please do take the time to read the leaflet. If on consideration you wish to opt out please complete the this form and return a signed copy to the practice. We can add a code to your record to stop it information being uploaded.
NHS England have commissioned the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) to create a system pulling together patient information from different sources with the intention of improving health services. It will upload patients’ information from hospital and GP clinical systems- while it will not include your name, it will upload your date of birth, full postcode, NHS number and gender, along with some clinical information.
You can opt out of this data sharing- please print out and complete this form, and return a signed copy to the practice.
The group last met on 11 February, click here to see the notes of the meeting.
Online Booking and Nurse Appointments
Many patients have asked us why we don’t allow you to book appointments with a practice nurse online. If we could, we would. The reason is that different nurses are trained to do different activities. Also different procedures require different lengths of appointment. Sadly, the technology does not allow for this to be factored in online.
ONLINE APPOINTMENT BOOKING
Did you know you can book a GP appointment and order your repeat medication online through this website?
If this is something you’d like to do, please contact the practice either by telephone or in person. We will need to verify your identity and then we can provide you with the appropriate access code to enable this service for you.
Welcome to Oadby Central Surgery

Our surgery is in the heart of Oadby village on the Parade. Our team of doctors, nurses, receptionists and administrators are dedicated to providing you with a friendly, caring and efficient family health service.
We hope we provide our patients with the best aspects of the modern general practice, while retaining the best of traditional primary care, offering you choice and continuity. We have a diverse group of patients with a diverse group of needs, and we want to be able to offer you all the service that works for you.
This means having a wide range of clinical staff- from a phlebotomist who specializes in taking blood samples, to nurses who can independently treat and prescribe medication for minor ailments, to GP’s with twenty years and more of experience who are training up the next generation of doctors.
Our friendly, helpful reception team is highly trained, and the more information you are able to give them, the more they can help you get the best from us.
